You know the phrase “The devil works hard, but Kris Jenner works harder”? Well, the past nine months of my life at Le Colonial have gone something like that. But in this case, the “devil” is the wild ride otherwise known as the year 2020, and “Kris Jenner” is the Le Colonial management team. Almost everything I knew about running and sustaining a business was put to the ultimate test once the proverbial s**t hit the proverbial fan in March of 2020.
What my 10 years of experience didn’t prepare me for, is how to sustain sales when you can’t actually sell your product or service, and your entire staff is furloughed. Sounds like an impossible situation, doesn’t it? I will spare you any of the cliche motivational phrases surrounding the word “impossible,” and skip to the part where I tell you that sustain sales, we most certainly did.
Thanks to a dramatic restructuring of our products and services, a brand new 360-degree marketing and communications campaign, and a skeleton crew of managers who dedicated 14 hours a day, seven days a week, we were able to keep the lights on (literally and figuratively).
